Bottle gourd, (Lagenaria siceraria), also called white-flowered gourd or calabash gourd, running or climbing vine of the gourd family. The young fruits are edible and are usually cooked as a vegetable. It helps in better digestion, reduces sugar level and constipation, cures insomnia and urinary infections and is a good remedy for treating insomnia. It requires a warm growing season with a temperature ranging between 18-300C. It can be grown in various kinds of soils but sandy loam to loamy soils are ideal.
