Capsicum (Capsicum annum), also known as sweet pepper or bell pepper in the nightshade family (Solanacea), is grown for its thick, mild fruits. Bell peppers are used in salads and in cooked dishes. Capsicum is a cool season crop, but it can be grown round the year using protected structures where temperature and relative humidity should be 25-300C and 50-60% respectively. Capsicum grows better in a loam or sandy loam soil with good water holding capacity.
