Chilli are varieties of the berry-fruit of plants from the genus Capsicum, which are members of the nightshade family Solanaceae, cultivated for their pungency. Chilli is one of the most valuable crops of India. It is also used for vegetables, spices, condiments, sauces and pickles.  The chilli is a plant of tropical and sub -tropical regions. It grows well in warm and humid climates and a temperature of 20-25°C. Chilli can be grown on a wide range of soils but well drained loamy soil rich in organic matter is best suited for its cultivation.
